Nepal holds a special place in my heart.
When I went to Nepal for the first time, I was working a full-time job and had no plans to stay beyond a 20 day trek in the Manaslu region. A week after returning home, I'd quit my job and was a plane back to Kathmandu.
I hope my stories from Nepal inspire you to travel as well.
If you've gotta go, go all the way. In March 2018, I set out on my first trek in Nepal. I'd never done overnight hikes longer than a couple of days and had never been above 3000m. Coming into this, I thought it would be one of the toughest things I'd done, physically. In reality, it was a mental game and an emotional journey which brought me in contact with both trekkers and locals. Walk with me on my journey to 5106m.
Never again. That's what I said at the end of the jeep and bus ride concluding my Manaslu and Tsum Valley trek. In some ways, that 13 hours on moving transport was tougher and sketchier than the rest of the trek. Well, a little over 3 weeks later I was back on the exact same road, taking the same bus and jeep in the opposite direction: towards the Annapurna Circuit. This time though, the ride was surprisingly smooth and painless! Good company does wonders.
